Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Hon. Justice Lindy Jenkins inspired MLC students with a thought provoking presentation at a MLC Amazing Women Breakfast. She spoke of her own journey as a women in the legal profession and encouraged women to embrace their own personality or style, especially with regards to qualities that may differ from those that are most often attributed to men.
With a daughter in Year 12 in 2015, she encourages her and all girls to pursue careers at the top of their chosen professions.
Justice Jenkins became a judge of the District Court of Western Australia in September 2001 and was later appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court in 2004 where she currently presides over a wide variety of cases.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University in 1981 and was admitted to practice in New South Wales and the Northern Territory in 1982 and in Western Australia in 1989.
Justice Jenkins was Crown Prosecutor and Acting Chief Crown Prosecutor in the Northern Territory and was a Legal Officer of the Western Australian Crown Solicitor’s Office.
With an extensive career and an uplifting outlook, Justice Jenkins is a great inspiration to our MLC community.
