Crossing the Fence Program

Crossing the Fence

A unique academic partnership between Methodist Ladies’ College and Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS), we are proud to offer learning pathways that empower students to shape their futures with confidence, curiosity, and ambition. Crossing the Fence, an exclusive partnership with our neighbour Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS), expands opportunities for students in Years 11 and 12 through a coordinated, shared campus model. This established program enables MLC students to personalise their timetable by studying selected courses at CCGS, giving them the flexibility to pursue subjects not offered at MLC and deepen their academic experience.

A BROADER CURRICULUM & A COLLABORATIVE EXPERIENCE

Through Crossing the Fence, Senior Years students may choose from a curated selection of ATAR and certificate courses delivered at CCGS. With both schools located sidebyside, students can easily move between campuses as part of their normal school day, ensuring a seamless continuation of learning.

This collaboration allows our students to:

• Access a wider range of academic pathways
• Tailor their Senior Years program to align with interests, strengths, and post-school goals
• Experience a coeducational learning environment in specific subjects, while still benefiting from the advantages of MLC’s all-girls setting
• Build confidence adapting to new learning contexts — an excellent preparation for university and beyond

ORIENTATION AND PREPARATION

In Year 10, students are invited to attend a combined Orientation Breakfast hosted by both schools.

This event helps future participants:

• Meet teachers from MLC and CCGS
• Understand how the program works day-to-day
• Hear from current students about managing timetables, adjusting to new classes, and making the most of the opportunity

EMPOWERING CHOICE. EXPANDING POSSIBILITY

Crossing the Fence reflects MLC’s commitment to offering personalised, futurefocused pathways in the Senior Years.

By providing access to specialised subjects and diverse learning environments, we ensure every MLC student can design an academic program that is as individual as they are.
