Year 10 student Charlotte Viney (pictured far right) topped the charts at the West Australian Music Awards for best song in the Schools – 14 and Under category.
'Hurricane' is one of two songs by Charlotte that had been nominated for the award, which was presented on Saturday 21 March at the WAM Awards ceremony.
The winning entry was recorded in MLC's own Ellington studio which has been developed as a recording hub in the Music Department.
Charlotte took up guitar last year, and also plays the clarinet and the koto, or Japanese harp, which she learnt for four years while living in Japan.
She says she hopes to become a professional musician and fill the O2 Arena in London and Madison Square Gardens in New York.
