Boarding House gets some summer loving

The MLC Boarding House has undergone a major renovation over the 2014/15 summer holiday.

The interior of the Centenary wing spent most of the break looking like a demolition zone as a gang of workmen swooped in to ready the Boarding House for the girls' return in February.

MLC's Director of Boarding Elaine Riley says the College decided to modernise rather than expand the Boarding House to ensure the girls enjoy their time at the boutique facility.

"We want the girls to have a place that they can call their 'home away from home', which is comfortable and modern without being clinical," Mrs Riley said.

"The carpets have been replaced and the furniture has been updated.

"The biggest change is our sparkling, new bathrooms. We also have new kitchens in the family rooms so the girls can test their cooking skills."

The multi-million dollar upgrade of the Boarding House has been made possible by the generosity of an anonymous donor.

"Our community never ceases to amaze me. We are so so lucky to have such generous families who want to give back to MLC," Mrs Riley said.

While most of the work over the summer has focussed on Centenary, Riverside and Burnside will follow in phases three and four of the ongoing project.
