Girls take the river head on
Wednesday, 25 June 2014
Methodist Ladies' College's rowers are determined to take on the competition in the Head of the River regatta on Saturday 28 June at Champion Lakes.
Its First VIII rowers are confident that they can give the in-form favourites, Presbyterian Ladies College, a run for their money.
Competing in the regatta alongside Methodist Ladies' College and PLC are John XXIII, Penhros and Perth colleges and St Hilda's.
Training for the race has meant many early mornings for the girls who are determined to better last year's second place. They've also been able to train on MLC's new swingalator.
The event is also an opportunity to raise money for the Rowing Club. Home economics students have been supporting the rowers by making sausage rolls to go on sale and rowing parents have also been baking goodies and will be on hand on Saturday to ensure a fun day is had by all.
The first prize in the raffle is a weekend stay for up to 6 people at Smith's Beach Resort. Second prize is a lunch at Voyager Estate.
