Reconciliation Action Plan

Methodist Ladies’ College is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of the cultures, perspectives and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to listening attentively and working together as a community on the journey towards reconciliation. We invite you to read our updated Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for November 2024 to November 2025.

Acknowledgement of Country

Methodist Ladies’ College respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar Nation as the Traditional Owners of the Land on which we stand and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

It is upon their Ancestral Lands here on the bay of Minderup on the Derbarl Yerrigan that Methodist Ladies’ College stands.

We acknowledge the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to the education of all children and people on this Country.

Reconciliation Action Plan

MLC’s RAP reflects our commitment to ensuring our College is inclusive, culturally responsive and dedicated to justice and truth-telling. Through this plan, we aim to create a welcoming environment for all, celebrating the richness of Indigenous cultures, and continuing to build strong respective relationships with First Peoples.

Collaborating closely with local Whadjuk Nyoongar Elders, we integrate their guidance into our language, cultural practices, and everyday teaching and curriculum. Through this ongoing, respectful partnership, our focus is on ensuring MLC remains an inclusive and culturally responsive environment for all students, staff and visitors.

We understand that reconciliation is an ongoing journey and strive to implement our RAP in a meaningful and sustainable way. This involves ongoing development and implementation by tracking its progress, continually revisiting our commitments while generating new ideas to develop and sustain our RAP into the future.
