Applications to MLC

All roads lead to MLC…

We welcome girls who are not Australian citizens as boarding girls on our beautiful Claremont campus.

To be able to join us, girls must fulfil the Australian Government visa requirements and be proficient in English. Our girls also need to be fully informed and be in agreement with a number of specific details to fully participate in the Australian education system.

To find out how to become an international student at MLC please read our International Students' Guide.

Please find information from the Australian Government in:

The Education Services for Overseas (ESOS) Framework which includes the Act 2000 and the National Code 2018, is available for reference.

Steps to apply

  • Our international boarders very quickly become part of our extended MLC family. All of our girls gain a rigorous academic education while being guided as they grow into the women they wish to become.

Steps to enrol at MLC:

Step One - Register

Complete our online Application here or complete an Application to Register and return it to our Admissions team, along with your registration fee and the following documents:

  • Copies of your daughter's two most recent school reports
  • A copy of your daughter's Birth Certificate
  • A copy of your daughter's passport
  • Evidence of any special visa provision where applicable.
  • A completed English Experience Audit Form (above)

Step Two - Meet us

If you have indicated that your daughter has a proficient level of English we invite you and your family to meet with us, either in person if you are visiting Perth, or by Skype. Your family will meet with our Registrar, our Assistant Principal Years 7–12, and our Director of Boarding.

If you have indicated that your daughter is proficient in English and does not need to complete an intensive English language course, she will still be required to sit a supervised online test at her current school.

We ask to meet families either by Skype or in person here at the College to determine your daughter' English proficiency.

As all lessons are delivered in English at MLC. International students are required to have a strong command of English to reach their potential in our education system in Western Australia. Please refer to the Required Level of English guidelines to determine whether your daughter meets the requirements.

Girls who need assistance to improve their English to meet MLC's English proficiency requirements are referred to our preferred intensive English language school, Phoenix Academy to complete an intensive English language course. The aims of this are;

  • To determine your daughter's academic and personal goals
  • Your family will meet with our Registrar, our Assistant Principal Years 7–12.
  • To introduce our boarding facilities

Our international students are required to stay in our Boarding House.

Students who are studying at Phoenix prior to joining our College also stay in our Boarding House where they get to know their future classmates and boarding sisters in a warm and safe environment. They also have a seamless transition to being a full-time student at MLC.

Step Three - Enrol your daughter

When a place is available for your daughter you will receive a formal offer from our Principal. Some offers may be made on the condition that your daughter successfully completes an intensive English language course.

You will need to accept or decline our offer within the specified timeframe.

To accept the offer, you are required to pay the confirming fee. If you do not do this, your application will not proceed.

Step Four - Confirmation

You are almost there. Once you have paid your confirmation fee our Registrar will send your COE (Confirmation of Enrolment) and welfare letter. These documents enable you to apply for a student visa for your daughter.

Step Five - Completion

We will need a copy of your daughter's visa to complete her enrolment. You will also have to nominate a guardian who lives in Perth, and supply this information to the College prior to your daughter's commencement date.

Welcome to MLC.
