Giving Day

Our very first MLC Giving Day provided an opportunity for our community to come together to raise funds for a new means-tested MLC Foundation Community Scholarship. Every dollar donated on Giving Day was doubled by our generous matching donors. A total of $223,000 was raised through 363 donations to enable a student to receive a secondary education at MLC, providing her with a life-changing opportunity she otherwise would not have.
Dance Showcase

Our community enjoyed a wonderful evening of creative performances by our Years 7–10 Dance students. Our dances performed in a variety of styles, with some dance works choreographed by Collegians Bonnie Hyatt, Lailah Bogdanich and Selam Berhane who have returned to MLC to share their skills and their love of dance with the girls.
IGSSA Cross Country

All of our Cross Country runners put in a fantastic effort on the course at this year's IGSSA competition. Special congratulations to Lily in Year 12 who won the Years 11 and 12 race. Our staff and student volunteers did a wonderful job of coordinating the event as the host school this year.
Year 8 Outdoor and Environmental Education Camp
May 2021
Our Year 8s spent two weeks switching off and having fun in the South West as part of their Outdoor and Environmental Education experience. The girls camped each night, walked a section of the Cape to Cape from Redgate beach to Boranup, went abseiling and caving and learnt about the local area.
National Sorry Day

Our Early Learning Centre–Year 12 students each decorated a hand which was placed around the Oak Tree on the Great Court. The girls wrote their own messages to acknowledge the mistreatment of the many thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who have been taken away from their families. The Sea of Hands is a symbol of our commitment to take an active part in building a better future alongside our First Nations Peoples.
Collegians' Diamonds High Tea

More than 130 Collegians from the Class of 1969 and earlier enjoyed a beautiful high tea at MLC. The ladies reminisced, reconnected with old friends and enjoyed a fabulous fashion show of MLC uniforms through the ages modelled by current students. It was a wonderful day full of MLC memories.
Da vinci Decathlon
April 2021
We were delighted to be the host school for the 2021 Da Vinci Decathlon competition held at UWA’s Winthrop Hall. Our Years 5–11 students competed in academic activities designed to challenge them across the areas of engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.
House Singing, Drama and Mime Day

What a spectacle! Our girls worked so hard to develop creative plays, enthralling mimes and captivating choir performances. The House Singing, Mime and Drama festival of the arts showcased the girls talents and creativity as they competed for their Houses. Our girls’ House spirit was on show as they roared from the audience to show their support for their peers.
College Sunday

Our community came together to give thanks, connect and sing at College Sunday. As one of MLC's longest standing traditions, this event celebrates our place as a Uniting Church school. Rev. Hollis Wilson gave his final MLC College Sunday address in the theme of In the Fullness of Time.
Year 7 Outdoor and Environmental Education Camp
March 2021
Our Year 7 students explored Margaret River by stand up paddle board and canoe as part of their four-day Outdoor and Environmental Education programme. The girls took part in two overnight expeditions, one on the Margaret River and one on the Cape to Cape and enjoyed a visit from a local Wadandi man who enriched their understanding of the place they were in and shared his innate knowledge of Wadandi country. Spending time living in these environments helps to grow the girls' awareness of the natural world.
Service Week
March 2021
During Service Week, our Prefects organised activities to enable our girls to get involved and raise funds for our international service partners. Fifty-four girls took part in our annual hair chop, donating their hair to produce wigs for those suffering from medical conditions. Our students took part in a raffle to allow them to throw a shaving cream pie in the face of their favourite teacher - all in the name of charity!
House Swimming Carnival

Competition, Camaraderie and Creativity | The first Years 7–12 House Swimming Carnival in our MLC/CCGS Aquatic Precinct was a fantastic success. Records were broken, voices were lost from a day of enthusiastic cheering and our Romans were named Champion House.
Year 12 Valedictory

Our students, families, mentors, teachers and friends gathered at Winthrop Hall to celebrate the Class of 2020's journey at MLC. The evening featured emotional speeches, beautiful musical performances dedicated to the Year 12s, words of wisdom from Dr Perry, a surprise light display and a toast to the cohort from across the reflection pond. It was certainly a night to remember and the perfect send off for an incredible group of young women.
Year 6 Transition Tunnel

Parents and our Year 5 cohort formed a tunnel into the Marjorie Lyon House to welcome our Year 6 girls into the next phase of their MLC adventure. The girls’ teachers and their peers in Year 5 waved them off and wished them the very best for their next chapter.
Barclay Showcase

The Barclay Showcase highlighted our Years 3-6 girls’ dance, theatre, musical and artistic talents during an array of thoughtful and fun pieces. With numbers featuring learnings from important moments in history, explorations of famous fairytales and an overall focus on rainbows, the showcase is a treat for the senses!
Energy-Efficient Design
November 2020
Our Year 8s created models of houses in Science class, which incorporated heat-efficient design features to reduce energy usage during summer. After researching how to keep homes cool without using air conditioning, the girls designed then built and decorated their impressive model homes.
Years 7–11 Heather Lamont Festival

The Heather Lamont Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the year. In 2020, more than 2,400 entries were submitted into categories such as music, film, photography, drama, dance, poetry, recycled fashion, language and textiles. The campus was abuzz with excitement and the girls excited screams filled Hadley Hall during the performances.
Year 12 Farewell Assembly

The Final Assembly was a fitting farewell for our Year 12s who sang the College song, 'Per Ardua Ad Alta', for the last time, heard heartfelt speeches from Head Prefect Grace, 2021 Head Prefect Jemeeka and Dr Perry, were treated to a special leavers song performance, and celebrated outstanding achievements from throughout the year.
Book Week Dress Up

MLC was overrun with curious book characters today as part of our Book Week dress up. Characters dreamed up by Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll, JK Rowling, Dr Seuss and many more famous authors filled the campus as our girls took part in parades and reading challenges to celebrate the event.
Year 6 Outdoor Education Experience
October 2020
Our Year 6s snorkelled at Cottesloe, completed a high ropes course in the trees and canoed in Dwellingup, explored and learnt about native wildlife in Lake Claremont and took part in a bike education session at MLC. The girls had so much fun exploring outdoor settings, building friendships and learning about the local environment.

Excited cheers from our Years 1–6 students could heard across the campus. The girls enthusiastically competed for their Houses in relays, track races, long jump, tunnel ball, hurdles and many more activities as part of their House Athletics Carnival.
Kindergarten-Year 6 Heather Lamont Festival

Our Kindergarten-Year 6 students had an incredibly fun-filled day immersed in the arts during the Heather Lamont Festival. The festival featured passion speeches, singing, House cheers, drama, painting activities, Zumba, percussion and wonderful displays of camaraderie and House spirit. Now in its 60th year, the festival honours Collegian Heather Lamont who passed away in 1959 and had a passion for music and team activities.
Pinnacle of Success

Our Foundation Circle of Success members celebrated their collective impact at the Pinnacle of Success evening. The members were presented with three projects, which were developed by our Year 8 students through a Designed Spaces innovation initiative. The Circle members each voted to bring one of the projects to life during an evening of fun and philanthropy.
Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Mini Athletics Carnival

Our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary girls showed off their skills as they raced around an athletica circuit during their Mini Carnival. The girls have been practising their events all term and it really showed as they skilfully tackled every obstacle in their path today.
Year 7 Outdoor Education Experience

Our Year 7s took part in a series of exciting Outdoor Education experiences including surfing, geocaching, climbing, canoeing and taking on a high ropes course. Although often pushed outside their comfort zones, the girls approached each activity with such genuine enthusiasm and joy.
Years 7-12 House Athletics Carnival

Our Years 7-12 students had an exciting day at the Interhouse Athletics Carnival. They showed great determination on the track and field, and incredible House spirit in the stands as they cheered on their peers decked out in creative House-themed costumes. Rome was the overall winner and Troy took home the Spirit Cape. Go team MLC!
