Pastoral Care in Senior School

Heads of Year

The Head of Year oversees each year group and are concerned with the overall welfare of each student. The Year group is divided into six House groups and subdivided into 12 Tutorial Groups. The Tutor responsible for each group is concerned with each individual's development.

Tutors meet with their group on a regular basis and are available to support and assist individual students. Year level meetings are held in Hadley Hall. The Form Captain is selected by the Tutorial Group and assists the Tutor with the organisation of the group. Concerns regarding students' social or academic welfare should be directed to their Tutor and Head of Year.

Counsellors

The Counsellors' rooms are on the 3rd floor of Sumner House, together with the Career Centre. There are private rooms for discussing questions of individual interest or concern with students, parents or teachers. The Counsellors are available to all members of the College community and offer information advice and the opportunity to talk about areas such as school progress, career planning, course and subject selection, homework, study and social and personal relationships. Considerable assistance is given in selecting courses and careers, and all students are given standardised tests to help assess abilities. Every Year 10 student is interviewed during the year to discuss her future plans and choice of Year 11 subjects.

Chaplain

The College community is served by the Chaplain, Rev Anne Yarham, who is responsible for the religious dimension of College life. Students attend regular chapel services (hymn books required) and they study Religious Education as a component of their academic program. The Chaplain coordinates the Social Services activities in the College and is available for counselling. The Chaplain's office is located in the Collegians' Room next to the main white staircase to the Centenary Building.
