Curriculum Program Overview
The Junior School provides a secure and encouraging environment which fosters the holistic development of its students along with their growth in self-esteem and confidence. Opportunities are provided for the girls to learn co-operatively, to develop respect for others and to become independent learners.
Students are encouraged to progress at a rate which is appropriate to their ability and development. The Junior School places strong emphasis on attainment of solid literacy and numerical skills, as well as in Inquiry Learning, which includes the areas of Society and Environment, Science, Health and Technology and Enterprise.
Your daughter will have specialist teachers K-6, in Art, Music, Dance, Languages Other Than English, Physical Education, Library Skills and Christian Education. Computer Information and Communication Technologies are used across the curriculum at all year levels.
The Junior School curriculum is outcomes-based. Skills and strategies are developed sequentially and there is continuity throughout the College.
Learning Support
Learning Support teachers work with class teachers to provide a support programme for students who require this service. Students who show special ability are extended within their own classroom environment and through the Learning Support service.
The Junior School staff are dedicated and hardworking and will do all they can to make sure that your daughter's school days are productive, progressive and stimulating.
Student Assessment
Within the Junior School there are a range of assessments used including observation, testing, work samples and outcomes-based matrices.
