A note from the Head Girl

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the MLC community – students, teachers, parents and extended families, especially those who will be joining us in 2008 for the first time. I hope you have had wonderful holidays with your friends and families and are ready to launch in to the year ahead! This year is set to be filled with excitement, development and progress throughout the entire College and I encourage all members of the community to get involved and enjoy the fantastic year that 2008 promises to be!

On behalf of the MLC community, sincere congratulations go to the 2007 Leavers. The cohort led the College fabulously and we are very proud of their efforts and successes during the year. I would like to wish all 2007 Leavers the best of luck and every happiness with their future endeavours as they pursue their post-school pathways.

MLCs Centenary year, 2007, was extremely busy and rewarding with events such as the Great Fete and Party100 providing a chance to celebrate the achievements, diversity and the richness of the MLC culture.

Reflecting on last year's whole-school events, I remember friendliness, warmth and inclusion within the MLC community. Whole-school involvement is set to continue in 2008 with line-ups such as interhouse swimming and athletics carnivals, the Heather Lamont Festival in Term 1, and the house singing and drama competition. I encourage maximum student participation in these events, as it gives others a chance to cheer their friends on.

With the MLC Middle School consolidating its position as an exciting and enriching transition to Senior School, I look forward to welcoming the new Year 7s to the Middle School and the Year 10s to the Senior School. Student graduation into new sections of the school has been made easier and hopefully the girls feel equipped to tackle the responsibilities and adventures that are to be experienced as they move through the school.

This year promises to continue the development of the learning community and brings about the final year for another group of amazing individuals, the Year 12 Leavers of 2008. To my fellow Year 12s – good luck, work hard and enjoy the ride! I hope you all realise your potential during this final year and enjoy the privileges and responsibilities of being a Year 12.
Finally, I hope every member of the MLC community is ready to embrace the opportunities in education and beyond that MLC offers!
