Careers & Counselling Service
Visit the Careers & Counselling Service for counselling on any personal concerns or some help selecting subjects.
The Counsellors, Mrs Blackburn and Mrs Shaw, are both registered psychologists. Their offices are located in Student Services on the 3rd floor of Sumner House, together with the Career Centre. There are private rooms for discussing questions of individual interest of concern with students, parents or teachers. The Counsellors are available to all students to provide assistance on a wide range of issues related to their academic progress and personal welfare, including:
- Counselling on any personal concerns
- Course planning and subject selection
- Career decision making and career information
- Information on university and TAFE courses and their entrance requirements
- Homework and study skills
- Student exchange and scholarship information
Considerable assistance is given in selecting courses and careers and all students are given stanardised tests to help assess abilities. Every Year 10 student is interviewed during the year to discuss her future plans and choice of Year 11 subjects.
Students can make their own appointments to see the School Counsellors either by calling in to their offices or by filling in the appointment book. When students receive confirmation of their appointment they need to show their teacher the appointment slip and request permission to leave the class to attend the appointment.
Students and parents are welcome to drop in either, before or after school or at lunchtimes for informal discussions or queries.
