Collegians
Who is an MLC Collegian?
Every young woman leaving MLC automatically becomes a Collegian.
The MLC Collegians is vast network of past students from MLC with a committee of women working throughout the year on various projects. The purpose of the committee is to:
·
Connect the wider MLC community via networking opportunities and online database.
· Creating opportunities to reconnect with peers via functions/events and reunions.
· Fundraising to assist with financial aid for various projects.
In 2006, the President introduced a portfolio system, for which each committee member takes on an area of interest and reports back to the committee with a monthly update. Portfolio examples are:
·
Scholarships
· Mentor Program
· Business Networking
· Events and Functions
· Communications including Website
· 'On the Green Couch" - newly added, see section on sidebar
And we're working on more great ideas such as:
·
Peer Year Coordinators
· Year 12 Leavers' gift
· Finding Collegians to build up our database and awareness of the committee using social networking tools such as Facebook
The MLC Centenary took place in 2007 and was a huge year for the Collegians committee. Events included:
·
MLC 100 Party
· Centenary Ball
· Collegians' Lunch
· Sculptures on the Green
The committee also commissioned a Bronze Statue as a gift to the school, which can be found outside the Library/Resource Centre. Congratulations and thanks to last year's committee for all their efforts, it was a very exciting Centenary year.
