Rowing Support Group

Rowing Club logoAll parents of girls who choose Rowing as a winter sport are encouraged to join the Rowing Support Group (RSG).

The RSG supports Rowing through various fundraising events throughout the Rowing season. All money raised is put back into Rowing. Funds are used to help purchase eights, quads, oars and other equipment, ensuring our girls row in the best-possible boats. The Group also provides Sunday morning sausage sizzles for the girls and fun Pasta Nights on the Friday evenings before each Regatta.

The Rowing season generally runs from the end of Term 1 and culminates with a Presentation Dinner prior to the Head of the River, in the middle of August. The RSG is a great group of parents. We have fun, otherwise we wouldn't be part of it. If your daughter chooses Rowing, you'll get used to the early mornings. They do, and we do.

Meetings are generally held on Tuesdays of each month during the Rowing season, at 7.00pm in the College Meeting Room. At the conclusion of each meeting, the next meeting date will be set. All parents involved in the Rowing program are welcome to attend. rower

Rowing at MLC

Rowing at MLC is a thriving sport with lots of opportunities to learn new skills. It is available to girls in Years 9 to 12. Rowing offers girls a chance to increase their fitness and self esteem and also gives them a sense of accomplishment. No previous knowledge of the sport is required when girls take it up in Years 9 and 10. It is a team sport in which every member of the team has an equal role to play.

Afraid of early morning starts? Don't be, the girls adapt quickly and many parents car pool. Year 9 rowers train after school. Buses are provided for both morning and afternoon training to take girls to and from the Boat Sheds at Aquinas College.
